Tutorial Tuesday: ProcessHey everyone. I'm really swamped this week. So I hope you don't mind that for this week I just show you some of my art process instead of a "how to draw" tutorial. I guess this is more of a "How to plan out your art" tutorial. If you like seeing my process you can see more when I talked about "How to make a Comic", "Process", and "Tones".
Today I'm going to show you the process of the page I just posted yesterday. Page 16 of Shadows of Oblivion #2
So believe it or not this page was conceived about 7-8 years ago... (wow, this comic has been a long time coming). I didn't know where I wanted this to happen in my story, but I knew I wanted it to happen.

'Bi' Weekly assignmentHi everyone,
Hope you are all well.
Thank you all for taking the time to fill out the poll, it seems the majority of you that took part, love the idea of extra assignments outside of those set by C+P's Matt Kohr.
In response to this, we will be assigning Bi weekly 'tasks', here is an example:

Before I get onto this weeks task, I'd like to say a big, WELL DONE to the people who did some lip studies, they are really great. It is always interesting to see the different approaches people take.
Okay on with the show.
This week - Gestural drawing.
The purpose of gestural drawing is to capture the ‘essence’ of a pose/movement very quickly.
Because of this the drawing need to be quick/fluid and lively.
Now these aren’t meant to look pretty, they are meant to catch the energy of the pose/movement.
This exercise is for you, so just let loose and go for it.

HOW TO FIGHT ARTBLOCK!!!!;'D SO I NOTICED MANY OF YOU HAVE ARTBLOCK.
I had artblock too. It was a pain. SO THIS IS HOW I WAS ABLE TO GET RID OF IT.
1. Draw lots of fanart. (you can just sketch things out. You don't have to color. and you don't have to upload. just to see if you can still draw. thats what i do.
2. Look at your self in the mirror. Pose. and try drawing that.
3. try sketching out nature thats outside. (Try to draw somthing that looks cool)
4. Try drawing somthing that you ususally don't draw. (ex. Realistic horses and animals. things like that.)
5. Try to draw things that you wanted to draw ever since. (what I want to draw is a girl standing in the rain,humanoid with cords connecting to it,someone drowning,somone flying,a sunset.
6. try animating. (this helps you with poses aswell.)
Well goodluck. Thease methods usually helps me with artblock. Thats why I'm trying to draw all the singing/talking synthesizers. ._.

Week 4: Jan 22-28 – Facial Expression and Finalize a Blank for Each Character

This weeks assignment is pretty straightforward and doesn't require much lecture. You all are to experiment with the details of your character's facial structure and expression. Feel free to look for more source images or make faces yourself in a mirror or captured with a photo. I want to see 4 or more sketchy face experiments per character. Label with a word or phrase the emotion or thought you intend the face to express. lineart/colouring this winter term. I'm quite excited about this because
this is the first time I'll be teaching anything, especially digital
lineart and colouring at that. But hey I'll do my best and I expect you

Class plan:
1st week - General steps to a digitally done lineart, preparing a traditional lineart/sketch for colouring digitally and colouring the lineart itself.
2nd week - Light and shadow, effect of lighting on lineart, line weight and different lineart styles.
3rd week - About brush settings (Photoshop, Open Canvas, SAI) and lining digitally with a mouse (via the pen tool in Photoshop).
4th week - Different ways to fill a lineart with flat colours, adding textures/gradients to a flatted lineart as a finishing touch, making an action button for the fill tool and about clipping masks.

Design a Character Contest

_{September, 30, 2012.} Contest time!
I am holding a "design a character" competition! The Idea is to make the two other characters in my new comic, The Chosen.
So here's the details.

Deadline's and time
_{Deadline:September, 30, 2012 to November, 1, 2012.}
_{Winner announced: November, 3, 2012.
All entries must be entered by that date, no add-on's!

Theme
_{The theme's of the contest's are to Design either the female character or the male, or both. The story is based in medievil times so armor, swords, tunic's and stuff like that are definately welcome!}
Female: In the story, she is about 14-16 year's old, she is an evil character, she can't be an anthro. She is a warrior for the evil kingdom so make her look warrior like.

Male: In the story, He is a rogue, archer, he lives in the forest and steals things for the market, so try to make him look like he has been living in the forest for his life. He is also about 15-16 years old.

Rules
-No skimpy clothing. (I dont want the girl wearing short skirts or small tops, If you must do small skirts, put visible shorts/bike pants/tights on. Same goes for the guy.)
-No demonic things. (None of them are to be demon's, same for there weapons, I dont want them wielding demonic things..)
-No technology. (Cause they're in a kingdom-type setting, It would be wierd if they had a mobile or computer or something.)
-You can do complex designs. (I dont mind. XD)
-They can have pets, weapons and accesories on them.
-Your entry has to be coloured!

Prizes!
Female character design comp:
1st-140,A fully coloured, with background commission from me, a request from Dasketcherz and your design gets put into the comic!
2nd-a sketch from me.
3rd-a headshot from me.
Male character design comp:
